From 6 July to 9 January 2024
The Royal Palace of Naples hosts the exhibition of the artist Mimmo Paladino (Paduli, 1948) dedicated to Pulcinella, curated by Flavio Arensi, from 6 July to 3 October 2023.
The 104 drawings created over thirty years ago by the Campanian artist, who was inspired by the album Divertimenti per li regazzi (1797) by Giandomenico Tiepolo, will be exhibited in the Galleria del Genovese. A tribute by Paladino to the eighteenth-century Venetian masterpiece composed of 104 dedicated cards illustrating the adventures, death and resurrection of Pulcinella.
Through the recently restored drawings of Mimmo Paladino, Pulcinella, however, conducts a risky test of strength with drawing and the history of art, which he resolves to appropriate both and jokingly beat them.
At the Royal Palace of Naples the cycle is enriched with an extraordinary new element: a newly created one will be added to the 104 drawings, a real surprise for everyone which will be revealed on the day of the inauguration.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 2.00 pm on 6 July.
