Nicola Migliozzi (Calvi Risorta 1952) in this exhibition presents about thirty paintings made in the last twenty years on lava stone, except for some examples of encaustic and fresco. “He is an artist who has reached an expressive maturity such as to fully justify his fine-tuning of his personality. Active for several years, Nicola Migliozzi has repeatedly pointed out, given his excellent mastery of the art of sculpture, as the author of monumental and celebratory complexes of great intellectual and formal commitment "(Claudio Strinati, Catalog exhibition La poesia del mito. Museum Civico Archeologico Mondragone, CE, 2014).
"The techniques and the subjects treated change but the recognizability of his sign remains constant, his unmistakable mastery both in the material drafting of color and in the design, sometimes filamentous and tangled, sometimes clear and precise to define the figures, things or landscapes that , isolated or organized in complex compositions, they tell us about mythical episodes or those belonging to our daily life. Migliozzi, with his incessant work, treats, like a tightrope walker, very different topics, passing from the drama of a shipwreck to the sweetness of a love encounter, the serenity of a sunset or the irony of grotesque representations such as Self-portrait in hell. In an interview, the artist stated that his sources of inspiration are many, it can be reading a poem or listening to a piece of classical music, or a visit to a museum or simply a news story. , but the way to concretize the idea sprung in the mind, its becoming image depends on the moment in which it is about to the artistic gesture, sometimes it creates an entire composition with a single stroke, a continuous line, without second thoughts, with a surprising result for the clarity of the forms that seem to have transferred directly, by magic, from the mind to the support, at other times, however, it is a continuous return to the lines already traced in search of the most suitable solution and artistic doing, the creative act becomes torment, a sweet torment, indispensable for a work to acquire meaning and transform itself into Art ”(from the introduction to the works of Elda Lia).
