The Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts presents the first retrospective exhibition, curated by Gabriele Guercio with Andrea Viliani, dedicated to Marcello Rumma (Salerno, 1942-1970), a central figure in the Italian and international cultural debate between the 1960s and 1970s.

Marcello Rumma developed his research, as short-lived as it was intense and pioneering, as promoter of exhibition and editorial projects, connoisseur and passionate collector, intellectual and friend of artists, organizing exhibitions and promoting publications dedicated to the most experimental artistic practices of his time. Projects recognized today as central experiences in the history of contemporary art such as, among others, the three editions of the International Review of Figurative Arts in Amalfi (Aspetti del "Return to the things themselves", edited by Renato Barilli, 1966; Impatto perceptive, edited by Alberto Boatto and Filiberto Menna, 1967; Poor art + poor actions, edited by Germano Celant, 1968). In addition to supporting and making these initiatives possible, Rumma was also active in other fields, from teaching (he was the founder of the Centro Studi Colautti and prizes and magazines for young artists) to publishing initiatives (launching, in 1968, the publishing house Rumma Editore which he published, in a timely manner, fundamental texts on philosophy, art, theater and cinema, including the first Italian translation of the writings of Marcel Duchamp, Machand du Sel, and the artist's book The black man, the unbearable side by Michelangelo Pistoletto ).

The exhibition, organized in close collaboration with the Rumma Archive, is also the result of a research path carried out as part of the ARCCA-ARchitettura della Conoscenza CAmpana Project - Thematic context 1_MADREscenza2020, which allowed to contextualize the multifaceted and rigorous activity of Marcello Rumma.
