The show

A precious , surprising, innovative exhibition: the exhibition “The Etruscans and the MANN”, curated by Paolo Giulierini and Valentino Nizzo, is scheduled at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples until 31 May 2021 .

An important appointment that, with the scientific project of Valentino Nizzo, the coordination of Emanuela Santaniello and the organization of Electa, is aimed at professionals and not only. Six hundred finds presented to the public: at least two hundred works , after a careful study, documentation and restoration campaign, are visible for the first time on the occasion of the exhibit, which also arises from the network established with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, where it is the initial stage of the itinerary was hosted with the exhibition “Pompeii and the Etruscans” (December 2018-May 2019). Already with "Egypt Pompeii" (2016) and "Pompeii and the Greeks" (2017), exhibitions that confirmed the collaboration between the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the MANN, an evocative journey was undertaken to discover the civilizations of the past: thanks also to the coordination of Electa, the synergy between the two institutions will continue after the exhibition on the Etruscans, with the exhibition “Pompeii and Rome” foreseen in the Archaeological Park programming. The exhibition covers a time span of about six centuries (10th-4th century BC) and defines a path of investigation which, in the footsteps of the Etruscans , seeks to reconstruct the historical foundations of this population, whose greatness also derived from the control of resources of two very fertile plains (the Po valley in the North and the Campania region in the South). As the famous Greek historian Polybius recalled, still in the second century BC, "whoever wants to know the history of the power of the Etruscans must not refer to the territory they currently own, but to the plains" controlled by them.
