From 30 May to 31 August 2019
His gentle art colors the streets of the cities, looking for forgotten corners to portray icons of all times, re-proposed with the diving mask: from Botticelli 's Venus to Andy Warhol , from Giuseppe Verdi to David Bowie , from Leonardo da Vinci to Marcello Mastroianni , there are many characters who, between reality and fiction, were represented by the street artist Blub.
Determined not to reveal his identity to the public, Blub made a foray into the historic center of Naples and his unmistakable creative imprint did not go unnoticed in the eyes of the Director of MANN, Paolo Giulierini : "Towards Thalassa we could only meet Blub: designing the our great exhibition on underwater archeology we have crossed the streets of Naples with the distinctive sign of this mysterious artist, famous for the beautiful portraits of illustrious characters in diving masks. It happened last April when, in one night, Blub wanted to disseminate his paintings also in our city, always with respect and attention, aiming at the redevelopment of degraded corners and giving, for example, new life to old metal doors. His message won us over for spontaneity and simplicity: #Lartesanuotare recites the hashtag he has chosen, and we add that 'for art you swim', for example, towards the discovery and enhancement of the Mediterranean finds re-emerged from the antiquity, the ones we will talk about in our Thalassa exhibition next autumn. And so, after being conquered by an extraordinary marine Carlo Di Borbone, we asked Blub for a 'special' production on the iconic works of the MANN. To all the fun of discovery in the room of the Pompeii Model ".
Hence the exhibition "Art knows how to swim", curated by the artist Carla Bru and the journalist Maria Paternostro , scheduled at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples from May 29 to August 31: Blub creates some original works, which they interact with the finds of the MANN, accompanying the visitor in an underwater dimension with blurred colors; trait d'union of the works is the primordial element of water, which defines the suggestions of an unprecedented Sappho, plays with an underwater version of Terentius Neo and his wife, makes some masterpieces of ancient statuary contemporary (among these, Apollo in bronze of the Casa del Citarista; Bronze ephebe of Via dell'abbondanza; Bust of Artemis in bronze from the temple of Apollo in Pompeii; Bust of Jupiter Ammon in marble; Venus Marina and Venus Lovatelli from Pompeii in marble).
The Sala del Plastico of Pompeii thus becomes a real immersive scenario, in which the site specific set-up and the artist's video, with a particular sound effect created thanks to the director Riccardo Sansone, allow the visitor to dive , literally, in an evocative dimension in balance between past and present.
