From 29 March to 26 June 2023
The title of the exhibition "Annerite scaglie", personal exhibition by Aulo Pedicini (born in 1942), curated by Generoso Bruno , comes from the words of a last poem dedicated to the artist by his brother Gerardo, art critic and poet, who died recently ( 1937-1922), which suggest a primordial, almost alchemical origin of his sculpture. Those same words will be materialized by the reading of Renato Carpentieri , who will speak at the vernissage at 5pm.
Born in Foglianise in 1942 and active since the 1960s on the Neapolitan art scene, Pedicini crossed the neo-avant-gardes of the 1970s, moving from the echoes of post-cubism and Dada surrealism, also using unconventional materials. The nearly one hundred works on display represent a veritable anthology of the multifaceted artist's production, enriched by the latest works , in which Pedicini has returned to assembling, this time through the collage technique. We start from the cases of the 60s, moving on to the most recent bronzes (about 15 works) - exhibited in the room that introduces the epigraphic section - to arrive at the latest pictorial works (about 85) .
The curator Generoso Bruno says: "The showcases and the assembly sculptures are back on display , for the creation of which Pedicini intervenes on the waste fraction of what he defines as the ephemeral opulence of the consumer society, investigating mass production and its social use, almost like an archaeologist intent on reconstructing the present time through its residues". In the room that introduces the "underground" section , which houses the exhibition, opened by a shot by Mimmo Jodice at the Flavian Amphitheater in Pozzuoli, the entire photographic series of the performance "Progression in a defined space" of 1966 is presented, in which Pedicini is portrayed by the lens of Jodice himself.
