The Neue Pinakothek (New Pinakothek) is a Munich painting and sculpture museum that houses works from the late 18th century to Symbolism and Liberty (early 20th century). It is located in the Kunstareal, an area of the Maxvorstandt district with a maximum concentration of museums. The building of the Neue Pinakothek was originally built at the behest of the King of Bavaria Ludwig I. Completely destroyed during the Second World War, the current building is the result of a reconstruction of the 1980s, carried out in a modern style. Among the works in the collections there are works by artists such as Goya, Jacques-Louis David, Delacroix, Gauguin, Cézanne, Courbet, Degas, Klimt, Wilhelm Leibl, Max Liebermann, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, Giovanni Segantini, Seurat, Signac, Sisley , Carl Spitzweg, Van Gogh, Egon Schiele, Hodler, Canova, Friedrich, Johann Friedrich Overbeck, Munch, Böcklin and several others.
Since January 2019 the art gallery is closed for renovations (until 2025). Some of the masterpieces are located on the ground floor east wing of the Alte Pinakothek.
