The Estensi Galleries organize, as part of the twenty-fifth edition of the upcoming Festival of Philosophy a review focused on the theme to which the event is dedicated: "PAIDEIA", an ancient Greek term that indicates the educational model in force in Athens in the 5th century.

Among the various interpretations to which the concept of PAIDEIA is suited, there is also that of the transmission of knowledge specific to cultural institutions such as museums, called to reflect on the origin of their works, on the type of selection made for their presentation, and on the ways in which knowledge of the collections has been shared over time.

Through a selection of photographs from the photographic archive of the Estensi Galleries, the exhibition aims to offer an insight into the strategies and different museographic approaches that have characterized the exhibition path of the Estense Gallery over time: the changes in the exhibition of artworks are evidence of the different relationship that the museum has established with the public.

The photographic review, which traces the history of the installations of the Estense Gallery through the directors and superintendents who have succeeded each other over time at its helm, is closely related to the renewed introductory hall of the exhibition path - the Vestibule of the Estensi - designed according to the most current criteria to contribute to a better and more conscious understanding of the history of the Estensi collections.

The exhibition also aims to celebrate an important anniversary: just over 130 years have passed since the 3rd of June 1894 when the Estense Gallery and Museum were inaugurated in their current location.
