FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive inaugurates 2022 with three events that will enrich the spring exhibition season. The joint opening and free admission, in compliance with current regulations, will take place on March 4 at 6 pm .

The Jordi Colomer exhibition curated by Daniele De Luigi will take place until 8 May 2022 Strade at FMAV Palazzina dei Giardini. This is the first retrospective in Italy of the artist born in Barcelona in 1962 and brings together works created over the last twenty years, in close dialogue with a collective and participatory action planned in Modena.

Strade will include famous video installations such as New Palermo Felicissima (presented as part of Manifesta XII, Palermo, 2018) e Anarchitekton ( 2004), but also photographs and sculptures. Basing situations on the border between the ordinary and the extraordinary in the terrains vagues of public space, Colomer materializes a fiction that breaks through the real, altering it. Each of Colomer's work configures an implicitly political artistic act, because any unscheduled and undirected action in the public sphere is the seed of a potential radical rethinking of the social dimension.

On 27 March 2022 Colomer will also carry out a new performative action conceived specifically for the occasion and for the city of Modena: a procession that will cross the city - from the San Cataldo Cemetery, by Aldo Rossi, to the Palazzina dei Giardini, venue of the exhibition - involving citizens in a cathartic recovery of the experience of social space, in the midst of the difficult exit from the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with MACBA Collection and with the contribution of the Spanish Embassy in Italy and Fundació Ramon Llull; while the procession, curated by Daniele De Luigi and Federica Rocchi , and co-promoted by the Amigdala collective, will be held with the participation of: Cittadella Primary School - Comprehensive Institute 9 of Modena, Adolfo Venturi Higher Education Institute, Modena, Higher Institute of Studies Musicali Vecchi Tonelli, Modena - Municipality of Modena, Demographic services, Dugoni scrl, New San Cataldo Cemetery.
