The Vivi L'Archive exhibition project kicks off at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum , a series of insights aimed at enhancing the archival heritage of the Bagatti Valsecchi Foundation.

The first exhibition, from 23 March to 7 May 2023 , entitled "The Italian artistic house: the environments", is dedicated to the museum's photo library made up of 3474 photographic prints collected by the brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi to create a rich visual repertoire that could inspire their housing project.

Some photographs are on display for the first time, documenting the original layout of the current House Museum at the time when it was still lived in by the Bagatti Valsecchi brothers. Many of these shots merged into the iconographic apparatus of the volume The Italian artistic house. The Bagatti Valsecchi house in Milan. Architecture and interiors in the style of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries by Fausto and Giuseppe Valsecchi di Belvignate. A path that leads to the similarities and differences between the current museum layout and that of the first decades of the twentieth century.

Starting in 1880, following the death of their mother Carolina Angiolini, Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi decided to start renovating their home; leaving behind the Baroque taste of the 1870s, they chose the Renaissance as the only reference for the refurbishment of the house.

At the end of the works, the well-known photographer Gigi Bassani (1894-1930) was asked to carry out an important photographic campaign in the spaces of the House, which was later published as part of the 1918 volume La casa artistic italiana. The Bagatti Valsecchi house in Milan. Architecture and interiors in the style of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries by Fausto and Giuseppe Valsecchi di Belvignate, edited by Ulrico Hoepli, with a preface by Pietro Toesca.
