Poetry is a place .
In the interweaving of practices that characterizes the work of Marta Tessaroli, the first operation is the ascent, at times harsh and difficult, along paths and streets that approximate Adamello and Pizzo Camino, Diavolo di Tenda, Monte Prado and up to the ice of Bishorn, to the top of Monviso. They are the steep and rugged places in which the author advances, looking out over voids, hearing crackles and roars similar to waterfalls, the subtle hiss of the winds and the sound of footsteps on the rock. It is a crossing conducted in solitude, which prepares an intimate dialogue with intact and inviolate places to which the author offers pure devotion and inexhaustible and laborious research.
The signs of a first portrait are imprinted in a notebook: it can be the vastness of a horizon captured in a sudden silence, the detail of a rocky and dark mass that attacks, the intact expanse of purple ice or a luminescent and pointed shape raised to the sky like a spire. The stroke is rapid, it neither lingers nor hesitates, moved by a deep emotional tone, rooted in silent contemplation: a pact of solidarity is made with Nature, with the Living. Here: the sign is the means capable of preserving and guarding the primordiality of a still inviolate pact.
A transfigured geometry has been captured, exhibiting shadowy figures, hints of veiling and profiles that seem to unfold uninterruptedly and which Marta transforms ceaselessly, experimenting with materials and supports: first paper, with ripples that give the sky an elusive shape, but also panels of wood or a wall, of which the line obediently follows the irregularities, imperfections and cracks.
Marta Tessaroli inhabits and nourishes that pact, with a sure method: she investigates the drawings collected in the travel notebook, researches and refines lines and volumes and deepens the composition. And then he questions the sign and his own gesture, experiments with possible outcomes, without ever numbing or obscuring the contact with the Living and its expressions.
Marta Tessaroli was born in Cremona in 1999. She attended the Stradivari artistic high school following the figurative direction. After completing his high school studies, he enrolled in the Painting course at the LABA Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia, where he graduated in October 2023. He currently attends the two-year Painting course at the Carrara Academy in Bergamo.
