From 30 October to 26 January 2025
The exhibition "¡Libertad! Peru's Independence in the MUDEC collections" celebrates three important anniversaries: the Bicentennial of Peru's birth, the 150 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Peru, and the bicentennial of the birth of Antonio Raimondi, a Milanese explorer, father of the MUDEC collections, and pioneer of science in the Andes.
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Peru in Milan, presents to the public for the first time some artifacts: in one of the showcases of the Agorà, among others, a velvet jacket celebrating the victories of Marshal José Sucre (hero of the independence wars), a series of objects sent by Raimondi to the Museum of Natural History in Milan and now at the Mudec, some terracotta works that testify to the oldest pre-Inca Peruvian cultures, ethnographic textiles, and some precious volumes from the "El Peru" series autographed by Antonio Raimondi - on loan from the Museum of Natural History in Milan. The exhibition concludes with some images by Candy Carmona and Andrea Balossi.
