From 10 April to 5 July 2026
The GAM Galleria Arte Moderna in Milan welcomes in the Sala del Parnaso Παρνασσός (Parnassus), the site-specific work by LETIA - Letizia Cariello which, from Friday, April 10 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, transforms the space into a structure traversable by light and time.
The project presents for the first time in the city of Milan in a public museum context the work of the artist who lives and works here since the years of her training.
THE ARTWORK
LETIA - Letizia Cariello's installation is configured as a large structure in golden aluminum, open on all sides, completely traversable by the gaze, in constant dialogue with the room's environments and with the external space of the garden visible from the windows. A dialogue that arises spontaneously, in an intuitive play of balance and dynamism.
The Sala del Parnaso
The artwork Παρνασσός is born in close dialogue with the Sala del Parnaso, named after the fresco by Andrea Appiani (Milan, 1754 - 1817) on the ceiling of the sumptuous former dining room of the Villa. Dated 1811 and the painter's last testament, the fresco recovers - innovating it - the classical theme of the god of music Apollo surrounded by the nine Muses, representatives of the arts, on Mount Parnassus. The artwork constitutes a prominent example of Italian Neoclassicism.
