From 18 September to 26 February 2022
The exhibition starts from a local version of the founding myth of the Two Brothers, in which surprising clues emerge on the encounter-clash between the Austronesian maritime civilization and the more settled Papuan, investigating the ancient migratory paths of man. With the certainty that the lighter-skinned descendants of Kulabob, who have moved away from the island, will return one day to reconcile with their brother's children, the tale of the indigenous people of Madang delivers a highly topical message for the development of intercultural dialogue. The theme also allows us to frame the main socio-environmental problems, recalling the exceptional historical contribution of Italian explorations and the first expedition to Oceania by PIME missionaries in 1852.
