From 3 December to 5 February 2023
On display, in the Focus space on the ground floor, a selection of works from the Rotary Club Milano Brera Award Collection created by artists of different generations and backgrounds: Armin Linke, ex aequo winner in 2014, Gian Maria Tosatti and Francesco Jodice, winners respectively in 2015 and in 2016.
The Rotary Club Milano Brera Award for Contemporary Art and Young Artists is part of the many humanitarian assistance services that Rotary takes care of around the world, which also include support for education and literacy. From this point of view, a contemporary art award represents an advanced declination of support for training. Indeed, there is no doubt that contemporary art represents one of the most innovative and avant-garde disciplines on today's cultural scene, with all the complexity and difficulty of interpretation that the avant-garde brings with it.
Through the resonance of this award, now in its twelfth edition, the Rotary Club Milano Brera intends to create an opportunity to bring the public, even non-experts, closer to this complexity and to the values of which contemporary art is the bearer, stimulating the understanding of languages that are as new and original as they are often hermetic, in the knowledge that knowledge of contemporary art represents a privileged key to understanding our present. In 2019, the collection of works of art collected so far by the Rotary Club Milano Brera was donated to the Museo del Novecento, inaugurating an important collaboration with the Institution and with the Municipality of Milan, offering its contribution to the city in extending the exhibition offer of contemporary art. All the winning works of the next editions of the Prize will automatically flow into the collections of the Museo del Novecento.
