Four years after the 2015 exhibition dedicated to the theme of the city, Guglielmo Spotorno proposes in the exhibition spaces of the Permanente a new review of paintings gathered under the title "Memories from the future", curated by the critic Claudio Cerritelli, professor of History of contemporary art at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.

The exhibition documents the multiple themes that the artist has faced over the last decade, alternating visions rooted in reality and ghosts of appearing, fragments of landscape and unreal dreams, marine transparencies and impetuous sailing, abstract self-portraits and naturalist icons, events news and lines of philosophical reflection, simultaneous ways of communicating the profound pictorial feeling that the artist also reveals on the parallel side of poetic writing.

The viewer finds himself immersed in the atmosphere suspended between dream and story that Spotorno 's painting expresses as a continuous succession of perceptive and cognitive instants that lead beyond the boundaries of appearing, towards the infinite emergence of elsewhere, understood as persistent becoming. imaginative.

In this sense, “Memories from the future” are visions that renew the vital relationship with the past by sensing new connections between matter and light, out of pre-established orientations, beyond the usual space-time parameters. Precisely because the anxieties of living are for Spotorno always in tune with the tensions of painting and their mutual breath is not satisfied in the present but is projected towards the thrill of the future.

On the occasion of the exhibition, a catalog will be published with the photographic reproduction of the works on display, a critical comment by the curator, and bio-bibliographic apparatuses by the Spotorno Archive.
