FUTURA , the new project of artist residences by Fabbrica del Vapore , promoted by the Municipality of Milan - Culture, got underway in early May. Curator Giacomo Zaza and six artists selected for the residency will create a laboratory of art and thought strongly connected to the contemporary and open to a multidirectional exploration of reality.

The artists selected for the residencies, who will live and work in the Fabbrica until 31 August 2023 , are Benedetta Fioravanti, Valentina Furian, Nicoletta Grillo, Lisa Martini, Giovanna Repetto and Davide Sgambaro. All are united by their young age – no one is over 35 – and by multimedia research , which ranges from more classic media, such as drawing, to more experimental ones such as digital processing.

The residency develops in three phases :

• The first , “Interagire”, is characterized by the encounter with eight internationally renowned artists who will give rise to as many conversations, not only with the curator Giacomo Zaza and the artists in residence, but also with the audience.

• The second phase, “Deviare”, will conclude with the presentation, at the end of June, of an exhibition of the artistic practices of the artists in residence, which will be the result of the interactions and investigations carried out during the stay.

• The third phase, "Certify", will accompany the artists towards the production of a book , combined with a dedicated documentary , which will return the path followed. The unpublished projects of the artists who carried out the residency will also be presented alongside the works of the international guest artists of the first phase in an exhibition at the Fondazione Stelline at the end of the year.
