The show

" Short-circuits ", curated by Vicente Todolí, is conceived as an immersive exploration in the complex artistic research of Chen Zhen, bringing together for the first time in the 5,500 square meters of the Navate and the Cube of Pirelli HangarBicocca , some of his most significant works, made between 1991 and 2000.

The title of the exhibition is inspired by the creative method developed by the artist, defined as the " phenomenon of the short circuit ": the unveiling of the hidden meaning of the work of art when it is moved from the original context for which it was conceived in a different place. A process that leads Chen Zhen to reflect on the concept of symbolic and cultural contamination as a way of artistic creation. The conception of the exhibition reflects this practice, creating unprecedented juxtapositions between the works on display and highlighting the numerous references and connections present in the artist's work in open dialogue with different themes: globalization and consumerism, the overcoming of the hegemony of Western values and the encounter between different cultures.
