The exhibition " Dear Joe Colombo , you taught us the future " opens at the GAM - Gallery of modern art in Milan from 24 May to 4 September 2022 .

In 1954 he installed the TV newsstands at the Milan Triennale , where he sets Zenit spread images and people could follow information broadcasts; passionate about jazz, together with the artists Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo, he furnishes it historic Jazz Club Santa Tecla with a collage of posters and disintegrated mannequins that hung from the ceiling: thus begins the extraordinary journey of Joe Colombo (1930 - 1971) - always looking for new technologies and materials, on the border between training artistic and industrial - not surprisingly called the prophet of design.

The exhibition is dedicated to him and his irrepressible imagination projected into the future DEAR JOE COLOMBO, YOU TEACHED US THE FUTURE by Ignazia Favata and organized by Suazes with the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Milano and the Joe archive Colombo, which from 24 May to 4 September 2022 brings to the rooms of the GAM Galleria of Modern Art of Milan the evolution of its history and its constant interest in new forms of progress. The exhibition itinerary starts from the first experiences of the 1950s, from joining to the Nuclear Art Movement and the first design of the Nuclear City in where we already find a residential city and an underground city with cars, services, warehouses and subway.

The death of his father and his necessary involvement in the family business, lo lead to a radical change with the abandonment of the artistic world and the encounter with the industrial one, but experience is crucial for Colombo, who learns construction techniques, production and meets the new plastic materials. After some in fact, he sold the business and opened his first studio in Milan.
