From 6 October to 10 December 2023
The exhibition, which constitutes an original production of the Trivulziana Library at the Sforzesco Castle, aims to present to the public a significant aspect of the history of the typographical book little known outside the scholarly circle, namely the birth of the frontispiece a few decades after the invention of movable type printing and its progressive development up to its current configuration.
The itinerary unfolds starting from some significant Italian attestations of the late fifteenth century up to a series of exemplary models from the twentieth century, with special attention to the development of the decorated and engraved frontispiece between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
With this exhibition project, the Institute's program continues to offer the general public, even the youngest, through a clear and essential language but always with scientific rigor, those fundamental elements of knowledge that allow us to read the present with greater awareness of our tradition cultural.
