From 13 April to 21 May 2023, Fondazione Stelline presents the exhibition War of the Worlds by Aldo Spoldi , forty-five years after his first personal exhibition which took place in Milan in 1978. The exhibition, curated by Alberto Fiz , proposes around twenty large works created from 1968 to 2022 that create a single installation of over 40 meters divided into two parts: a single act that winds along the entire exhibition space.
Based on a circular vision of history, the artist creates a place of freedom where some of his most famous creations appear, such as the Banda del Marameo (1968), the Pickwick Club (1978), The War of the Buttons (1980), Virtual characters (1996), the Academy of the slide (2007), Cristina Karanovic Blue girl - "The history of the world, 2011, The challenge , 2022.
The hybridization of eras and styles gives rise to unpredictable dialogues involving works such as Buongiorno Signor Spoldi , exhibited in 1996 at the Rome Quadrennial, and Arlecchino Pittore , a large unpublished three-metre work created especially for this project at the Stelline Foundation. «The harlequin painter, even a bit of a swordsman, escapes from the painting, from the room, grows bigger and opens a visual epic poem in one breath», underlines Spoldi.
