Val Rahmeh-Menton Botanical Garden

The Jardin botanique Val Rahmeh-Menton is a botanical garden in the city of Menton, in the Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur region of France. It is part of the National Museum of Natural History. The origin of the garden dates back to 1875, when the De Monléon family had the property built. This was donated to the state in 1966, and the garden opened to the public the following year. In the Jardin botanique Val Rahmeh-Menton there are about 1700 different plant species, divided into about 160 families and 700 genera from all over the world, with a strong presence of exotic plants. This exotic atmosphere is made possible thanks to a particular microclimate: in fact, Menton benefits from particularly favorable exceptional conditions, due to its position: it faces the sea and is sheltered to the north by the mountains. Its average annual temperature is above 16 ° C and has a rather high humidity. All this has favored a subtropical atmosphere which favors the acclimatization of exotic plants.
