From 28 January to 12 June 2023
The Jean Cocteau le Bastion Museum exhibits the second part of the restored works, A collection in all its states, Act II, devoted to Mediterranean works, film posters, photographic portraits of the artist Jean Cocteau as well as the Sarah Bernhardt collection of the museum.
While the first act of the exhibition presented, last year, the works saved and those restored (drawings, photographs, ceramics, mixed media and paintings), the second act will be an opportunity to discover new works recently returned from restoration (posters, pastels, paintings, new batches of photographs and drawings). The hanging becomes thematic: Jean Cocteau's Mediterranean drawings from the 1950s and 1960s will be installed on the ground floor of the bastion. The floor will be devoted to the Sarah Bernhardt collection of the museum to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of the great tragic actress. Jean Cocteau's cinema posters will rub shoulders with photographs of the artist's portraits. The tour will include more than seventy pieces, with numerous didactic explanations on the various restoration methods.
