MACMa - Museum of Contemporary Art of Matino was founded in 2011 and is now housed in the noble rooms of the sixteenth-century Palazzo Marchesale dei Del Tufo. The Museum, born from the Gabrieli, Balsebre and Miglietta donations, collects about six hundred works by artists belonging to the current of verb-visual poetry, both from Puglia and the rest of Italy, such as Luigi Gabrieli, Franco Vaccari and Paola Levi Montalcini. The usable paths are always dynamic and experimental: visual poetry, sound, new writing, visual poetry, mail art. A wing of the museum is also dedicated to the matinese artist Luigi Gabrieli, a talented painter, innovator and renovator. The MACMa, in addition to exhibiting its collection almost entirely, periodically organizes exhibitions, events and conferences dedicated to contemporary artistic personalities and actively promotes the involvement of young people and schools to promote knowledge of contemporary artistic languages.
