July 20 - August 1, 2025

The Ugo Guidi Museum - MUG of Forte dei Marmi for the 202nd exhibition presents the works of the painter Agostino Calcagno titled "The Breath of the Sea", in which the artist born in Cogoleto (Genoa) showcases his paintings. The exhibition is introduced by Vittorio Guidi with critical presentation by Lodovico Gierut and Marilena Cheli Tomei.

Agostino Calcagno was born in Cogoleto (Genoa) in 1949, where he still lives and works. Since childhood, he demonstrated great artistic ability. His art is expressed in various forms, from wood sculpture, serigraphy, etching, and finally, he finds the essence of maximum artistic expression in oil painting.

His favorite subjects are his sea, the inhabitants of his charming town, Cogoleto. His paintings capture and freeze on canvas the glimpses and hidden places of his Cogoleto, his Sea. The portraits of his fellow citizens, often with weathered faces marked by the years and sea salt, are one of his favorite themes.

Who could forget the paintings depicting Baci, Michelin, Peo, Franceschin, etc., all well-known figures to the people of Cogoleto who for years represented the "old" fishermen. He has participated in numerous art competitions, always receiving awards and high rankings.
