The Gutenberg-Museum, or Museum of the World of Printing, is a museum in Mainz dedicated to printing. Founded in 1900, on the occasion of the anniversary of Johannes Gutenberg's birth, it is one of the oldest museums dedicated to graphics in the world. It is located in the historic center of the city, inside the Zum Römischen Kaiser Palace, a historic building from the 17th century.
The museum's collection consists of books and machines donated by publishers, printing press manufacturers and printing companies. Over time, the museum has collected various exhibits relating to the fields of printing technology, typography, paper and the history of writing in different cultures, documenting their history from their origins to the present day.
Highlights of the museum include two copies of Gutenberg's Bible, the first movable type-printed book, and a reconstruction of Gutenberg's workshop.
