The Dommuseum Ottonianum Magdeburg (Magdeburg Cathedral Museum) is a museum in Magdeburg dedicated to the history of the city, in particular to its role as the seat of the archbishopric wanted by Emperor Otto, through which the city became an important medieval metropolis. Founded in 2018, the museum was born following the extensive excavations of the cathedral between 2001 and 2010, after which it was decided to present the results of the excavations on a permanent basis. Until then, in fact, Magdeburg did not have a cathedral museum. The museum's collection focuses in particular on Emperor Otto the Great (912-973) and Queen Edgitha (910–946), the Archdiocese of Magdeburg and the archaeological research that emerged from the excavations. In addition to the numerous archaeological finds, the museum preserves numerous funerary objects of the archbishops.
