The Sorolla Museum is a museum in Madrid, more precisely in the Paseo del General Martínez Campos where Joaquín Sorolla lived, to whom the museum owes its name, together with his wife and their three children.
The house still retains the original rooms and houses many works made by Sorolla himself.
The house became a museum at the behest of Sorolla's wife who donated the works and patrimony of her property to the state to ensure that the memory of her husband was honored.
The Sorolla Museum since 2009 has also been designated as the National Museum of Spain.
Inside you can admire the paintings of Sorolla himself. I deal with medium and large format works, together with some preparatory drawings.
The collection of paintings has a total of 1294 pieces, all by the artist while 164 are the works of other painters including Aureliano de Beruete, Anders Zorn and Martín Rico Ortega.
