Under the overpass that joins the streets of Juan Bravo and Eduardo Dato is the La Castellana Open Air Sculpture Museum . This permanent exhibition of contemporary sculpture occupies an area of 4,200 m2.
Configured by a large central area, for the most part covered by the bridge deck and bordered by two landscaped bands, this space contains an excellent collection of Spanish abstract sculpture , with great artists such as Eusebio Sempere , promoter of the idea and the management of the generous donations that make up the ensemble, with works by Chillida, Miró, Alberto, Julio González, Martín Chirino and Francisco Sobrino , among other great authors.
His museum approach is linked to the new museological currents that appeared in Europe and America after World War II, and which gave rise to the creation of different types of outdoor exhibition spaces . The La Castellana Open Air Sculpture Museum was the first of these features to be created in our country, and was an example for other Spanish cities.
