The CaixaForum is a cultural and exhibition center of Madrid. It is housed in an ad hoc building which is the result of the renovation of an old power plant from 1899 bought by the Caixa Foundation (the bank from which the center takes its name) in 2001. The CaixaForum represents one of the very few examples of industrial architecture in Madrid and covers an area of 10 thousand square meters. Inside, the Escalera Blanca (white staircase) stands out which runs through the entire height of the building. Outside there is also a work by Patrick Blanc, a 24-meter vertical garden with an ecosystem of 15,000 plants and 250 different plant species.
An auditorium with over 300 seats, numerous multipurpose rooms and conference spaces, a bookshop, a restaurant and a bar are the services that revolve around the over 2000 square meters of exhibition halls, which make the CaixaForum one of the nerve centers of modern art. and contemporary in the Spanish capital.
The CaixForum is a real art gallery and exhibits of various kinds can be found there: from sculptures to paintings, objects or illustrations.
