Confluence Museum

The Musée des Confluences is a science and anthropology museum located in Lyon, in the central district of Presqu'île, a peninsula between the Rhone and the Saone. The museum is very recent: it was inaugurated in 2014 and is housed in the deconstructivist building designed to resemble a floating cloud in stainless steel and glass. The museum includes collections of natural sciences and anthropology. The collections are grouped into four major sections: "Origins - Stories of the world", concerning the origins of the universe, "Species, the web of life", on the evolution of species, "Society-Theater humane" on societies and the way to build communities and finally, a last section called "Eternity - Visions of the afterlife", dedicated to the meaning of life, the inevitable death of human beings and how these issues have been dealt with within the various cultures of the world. The museum organizes temporary exhibitions, workshops for children and events and conferences.
