The Ludlow Musuem, in the heart of the town of the same name, is an interactive history museum. The Buttercross occupies the main access to the city center from the south. The museum mirrors the city's proud architectural heritage and introduces visitors to other heritage sites. The Ludlow Musuem, reopened in 2016, offers a series of audiovisual exhibits that allow visitors to discover the history of the area in imaginative ways. The displays on display reveal how Victorian geologist Sir Roderick Murchison unraveled the history of the Ludlow Rocks, the connection Catherine of Aragon had with Ludlow Castle, and the horrors of World War I experienced by local soldiers. There are also items related to life in Ludlow in the 1950s. Also in the permanent collection are important items such as the Bitterley Civil War coin hoard and a post-Roman gold ring.
