On Friday 15 December at 5pm , at the Granaries of the G. Fattori Civic Museum , the curtain rises on the exhibition Pietro Annigoni - painter of magnificent intellect. The exhibition Pietro Annigoni, a painter of magnificent intellect, curated by Emanuele Barletti, will be inaugurated on Friday 15 December at the granaries of Villa Mimbelli. Promoted by the Municipality of Livorno and the Livorno Foundation , with the patronage of the Tuscany Region, the collaboration of the CR Firenze Foundation and the contribution and Castagneto Banca 1910 , will be inaugurated on Friday 15 December and will remain open until 15 March 2024.

This is the largest anthological exhibition dedicated to Pietro Annigoni in the last twenty years, in the wake of the great monographic initiative created at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence in 2000 to celebrate the artist after his death in 1988. When the spotlight turns on the greats interpreters of the art world something new always emerges. Insights and unexpected discoveries contribute to enriching profiles that are already known but still complex and articulated. This event in Livorno also proves to be an opportunity to propose further analyzes and reflections.

In the central decades of the twentieth century, in fact, Annigoni willingly frequented the Labronic city of the old and new neighborhoods inextricably linked to the sea. He appreciated his people with their outspoken temperament, but also the richness of its cultural fabric animated by countless artistic and literary presences of high intellectual depth. Above all, however, he was attracted to and loved those marine expanses that opened beyond the Medici Port with their promises of infinity and freedom, to breathe deeply aboard his boat, the Bimba, an old fishing boat that he himself drove as an expert sailor.
