Strength and determination - the artistic experience of women in the works of the civic collections | 4 - 19 March 2023

A new small temporary installation of the Fattori Museum entitled "Strength and determination - the artistic experience of women in the works of the civic collections" will be available to the public from 4 to 19 March . It finds space in the Salotto Verde within the usual visit itinerary of Villa Mimbelli and is dedicated to female artistic experiences testified by the works and memorabilia present in the civic collection. The itinerary includes works by artists active between the 19th and 20th centuries , who defied the conventions of their time, deciding to carve out a profession within art in a then purely male world. Among these were the painters Corinna Taddei Cresci and Leonetta Cecchi Pieraccini , and the sculptors Piera Funaro and Laura Franco Bedarida .

Furthermore, the exhibition also includes pictorial and sculptural portraits dedicated to women involved in the art world which testify to the importance acquired within artistic milieu. Among these the Finnish artist Elin Danielson Gambogi and the Leghorn Anna Franchi presented through some portraits. Anna Franchi , an incredible and eclectic personality , was involved on several fronts, such as literature, music, journalism, feminist claims. Also in the field of art, Anna Franchi was incredibly ahead of her time, among the first European art historians, even before Margherita Sarfatti, she had relationships with numerous Tuscan and non-Tuscan artists, for whom she wrote critical texts, including the first biography of Giovanni Fattori and valued their production.
