Biscozzi Foundation | Rimbaud ETS - Museum of modern and contemporary art

The Biscozzi Foundation | Rimbaud was established on 19 February 2018 by spouses Luigi Biscozzi and Dominique Rimbaud with the intention of carrying out a cultural activity aimed particularly at modern and contemporary art, through the valorization of their collection of approximately two hundred works. The exhibition space of the Biscozzi Foundation | Rimbaud ETS is located in a small period building located in Piazzetta Giorgio Baglivi 4 in the center of Lecce, a few meters from Porta Napoli. It consists of a permanent exhibition, on the first floor of a historic building, of the most important and representative pieces of the collection. The path is structured chronologically: from the origins of the contemporary to the section on the Informal in Italy and Europe, to then move on to the abstract-geometric and kinetic-programmed trend, to analytical painting and, finally, to research that goes beyond the traditional statutes of the painting and sculpture. Part of the spaces on the ground floor are intended for temporary exhibitions. Here you will also find the ticket office-bookshop, the classroom, an internal courtyard and the small art history library, also used to host conferences and events. The Biscozzi Rimbaud Collection, from its origins to its progressive formation over the course of more than forty years, has documented - certainly not exhaustively, but rather with a deliberately personal look - an important part of twentieth-century art and includes works significant works by great Italian and international names (Filippo de Pisis, Arturo Martini, Enrico Prampolini, Josef Albers, Alberto Magnelli), with special reference to the fifties, sixties and seventies: Fausto Melotti, Luigi Veronesi, Alberto Burri, Piero Dorazio, Renato Birolli , Tancredi, Emilio Scanavino, Pietro Consagra, Kengiro Azuma, Dadamaino, Agostino Bonalumi, Angelo Savelli, Mario Schifano and many others (there is no shortage, however, of some valid contemporary Salento and Lecce natives, such as Salvatore Sava, Michele Guido and Salvatore Esposito).
