“Bertozzi & Casoni. Tranche de vie”, three locations for a large exhibition in their Imola. From 28 October 2023 to 18 February 2024 the Romagna town will dedicate ample space to the famous artistic duo, with an exhibition event that will involve all three public museums in Imola: Palazzo Tozzoni, Museo San Domenico and Rocca Sforzesca. Curated by Diego Galizzi, director of Imola Musei, the exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Imola - Imola Musei, thanks to the support of various local entities including the Cooperativa Ceramica di Imola, the main partner of the project.

The heart of the exhibition project - which is developed in three distinct sections, each in one of the Imola museums - takes place in the sumptuous halls of Palazzo Tozzoni ("Tranche de vie"), a noble residence which since the seventies has become a separate, complete of all the furnishings, of the city's public heritage and which today is a very interesting house-museum open to the public. Here the works of Bertozzi & Casoni dialogue with the original environments and furnishings of the palace, in a path of evocation and re-actualization of the daily life of the Tozzoni counts through the surprising creative finds of the artistic duo.

The propensity for amazement, the innate sense of irony and the language oriented towards a reckless and captivating mimesis find in this splendid setting a unique opportunity to launch into a wonderful game of exchange between reality and fiction.“What is achieved at Palazzo Tozzoni puts on stage - adds Galizzi - it is not a traditional exhibition, rather a choral installation oriented towards disorientation, where the actors called to give voice to this "laboratory of doubt" are, together, the furnishings, the furnishings and the works of art of the house-museum, and selected works by Bertozzi & Casoni”. Works - there are more than thirty along the route - which represent approximately the last twenty years of their activity and for which they are known throughout the world: the varied forms of vanitas, the accumulations of waste from everyday life, the piles of bones, the unexpected irruptions of animals often represented as mocking veterans who stand on the relics of our consumerist society.
