The Speicherstadtmuseum (Port Warehouse Museum) is a museum in Hamburg. Originally, the Speicherstadt (literally city warehouse) was a complex of 17 warehouses used at the end of the 19th century for the storage of goods and products. They are located along the canals near the port and are now occupied by several offices and museums, including the Speicherstadtmuseum. Grapes, sacks of coffee, barrels, bales and sugar balls: in the Speicherstadt Museum you can breathe the unique atmosphere of the old Speicherstadt. The museum illustrates how imported goods such as coffee, cocoa or rubber were stored, tasted and refined. Other central themes of the museum are the tea and coffee trade and the architectural history of the warehouse complex, illustrated with numerous historical photos and plants. The museum is a branch of the Hamburg Labor Museum (Museum der Arbeit): it originates from an exhibition organized in 1988, and then officially became a museum in 1995. In 2015 the museum was included in the cultural heritage by UNESCO.
