The R. Lanciani Archaeological Museum is located on the ground floor of the former Conventual Complex of S. Michele Arcangelo in Montecelio. The Museum has a substantial archaeological heritage exhibited around the suggestive cloister of the former convent complex (with a series of valuable sculptures, from the imperial age, coming from the villas that dotted the territory along the via Tiburtina and Tiburtino-Cornicolana. made up of ceramic, sculptural material, architectural decorations, numismatic collections and metals, they are all referable to the municipal area and demonstrate the frequentation of man from prehistoric times without solution of continuity until today. The Museum is dedicated to an illustrious original figure of Montecelio, Rodolfo Lanciani, engineer and architect, professor of Roman Topography at the La Sapienza University until 1921. Coming from this area and permanently exhibited at the Rodolfo Lanciani Museum, it is the only sculptural testimony of the Capitoline Triad, a cult dedicated to three superior divinities of Rome The sculptural group, in Lunense marble, represents ta Jupiter, Juno and Minerva seated on a single throne. Jupiter, in the center, with the scepter in the left and a beam of lightning in the right hand; to his left Juno with scepter in the left and patera in the right; to his right Minerva with Corinthian helmet, the right arm, missing, had to be raised to support the helmet. Three small winged Victories crown the deities, Jupiter with an oak crown, Juno with rose petals, Minerva with laurel. At their feet the traditionally sacred animals: the eagle, the peacock and the owl. The work was found in 1992 in the Inviolata Park during a clandestine excavation and found by the carabinieri in 1994.
