The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation presents, from 6 May to 23 July, at Palazzo Re Rebaudengo in Guarene, Io vivo timorata, for the West in free fall towards the         . However, I digress because music pumps through the veins, alcohol flows and you, you are all so beautiful. The world may be in ruins but we are fine here. , the exhibition which concludes the seventeenth edition of the Young Curators Residency Program Turin.

The exhibition is a double event: an exhibition in which the works of six Italian artists are presented reflecting on the re-eroticization of (political) bodies and a publication that collects the texts and visual essays of six other Italian artists produced around the revitalization of language through poetry.

The publication of the exhibition brings together poems, essays and visual and textual interventions: a revitalization of language understood as opposition to the enduring forms of hegemonic appropriation.

When we speak of 'political events' we think of mobilizations, protests, momentary gatherings of bodies in public space and, conversely, we interpret stillness and immobility as individualistic ebbs in the private sphere, distances from political action, when in reality, they are opportunities to try new groupings and experiment with new organizations. Moreover, the structures of oppressive power have deprived active bodies and groups of their power – rest itself has become a means of making capitalism more efficient – emptying radical action of its potential.

The exhibition explores the moments of calm, the flat calms of political events. Possessed by a certain quiescence, the artists tell of the potential inherent in exhaustion and perceive a growing erotic buzz in immobility. For them, stillness is not rest, refusal or inactivity, but on the contrary it is a form of resistance located in the body – be it social, collective, mechanical or imagery.
