From 14 December to 1 May 2024
The exhibition “Painters of the Eighteenth Century between Venice and the Empire. Art through the territories of Friuli Venezia Giulia" is the result of a virtuous collaboration between the Civic Museums of Udine and the Provincial Museums of Gorizia, a partnership that deepens the artistic production of numerous figures who worked in a Friuli Venezia Giulia, divided between two great powers such as the Serenissima Republic of Venice and the Habsburg Empire.
The exhibition is held in parallel between the Castello di Udine from 25 November 2023 to 7 April 2024 and Palazzo Attems Petzenstein in Gorizia from 14 December 2023 to 7 April 2024.
The Udine exhibition investigates the cultural liveliness and great artistic legacy that the eighteenth century left in what has always been known as a border area. What emerges is a new story of the "Venetian century" of Friuli, a story that is the fruit of 30 years of research which has also led to the emergence of important works never before exhibited to the public.
In parallel, at Palazzo Attems Petzenstein in Gorizia, the same theme is being investigated, but in an Isonzo key, at the time the County of the Austrian Empire.
