The exhibition Glimpses between past and present will open on Thursday 21 December in the Saletta dell'Arte on the first floor of the Galata Museo del Mare. Francesco, Andrea and Paola Leoni. Generations of photographers, organized by the Mu.MA Institution, the Association of Sea Museum Promoters, the Paolo and Giuliana Clerici Foundation and the Cambiaso Risso Group. The exhibition, curated by Anna Dentoni, Paola Leoni, Laura Malavolta and Daniela Ronzitti and created in collaboration with the Liguria Coordination of Icom-Italia, boasts the patronage of the Municipality of Genoa and the Liguria Region.

As part of the exhibition, visible to the public until 14 January 2024, two photo shoots will be organized for visitors on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 January and on Saturday 13 January a workshop dedicated to professional photographers and enthusiasts. Through 16 panels, 8 hardcovers, 40 photographs, videos, articles and objects belonging to one of the greatest Genoese photojournalists of the 20th century, Francesco Leoni, the exhibition intends to highlight the fundamental values that guided the artist throughout his career. career and which he passed down to his children, Andrea and Paola, also photographers. The exhibition transports us to a familiar dimension and then leads us to discover the stories that the three photographers want to tell with their portraits, whether of well-known people or unknown people. Constant, in the photography of the Leoni family, is the search for the right balance between technique, framing and emotion, as well as the message of the importance of preserving the memory of the past to interpret our present with greater awareness.

Francesco Leoni's photos are taken from the Leoni Archive, acquired by the Paolo and Giuliana Clerici Foundation in September 2021 at the request of the Mu.MA Institution and conferred to it to be made available to the entire community as a recognized historical, cultural and artistic heritage not only in Liguria but throughout Italy.
