The Man Ray exhibition. Works 1912-1975 pays homage to the work of the great master Emmanuel Radnitzky, aka Man Ray, born in Philadelphia in 1890 and died in Paris in 1976, who went down in history as one of the greatest photographers of the last century, but also an extraordinary painter, sculptor and avant-garde director.

The project is signed Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture of Genoa and Suazes , a cultural and creative enterprise with which the Foundation is in its fifth collaboration.

The exhibition – curated by Walter Guadagnini and Giangavino Pazzola – brings together around 340 pieces, including photographs, drawings, paintings, sculptures and films: the exhibition itinerary is, due to the quality of the works and their provenance from important national and international collections, a an unmissable appointment for all those who wish to immerse themselves in the fruitful period of the avant-gardes of the early twentieth century and in the creativity of one of the absolute protagonists of that season, also active in the second half of the century.

The artist's will to break the mold and create new aesthetics, combined with the irony and sensuality that permeate each of his works, are the elements that inspired and characterized his poetics. Man Ray himself tells in his autobiography of the load of "enthusiasm at every new direction taken by my imagination, and with the help of the spirit of contradiction I planned new excursions into the unknown".

The Doge's Palace exhibition is divided into sections that chronologically retrace his biography, from his debut in New York at the beginning of the twentieth century, passing through the Paris of the historic avant-gardes between the 1920s and 1930s, up to the last years of his career and life, spent between the United States and Paris.
