Tireless, intense and multifaceted Emanuele Luzzati (Genoa, June 3, 1921 - May 26, 2007) is a skilled and cultured artist, capable of masterfully using every type of material: from ceramics to paper, from fabrics to illustration.

He was set designer, poster designer, illustrator, painter, ceramist, author of award-winning and refined cartoons: the exhibition highlights the imagination, ingenuity and joie de vivre that characterizes man and artist, in a thematic and biographical journey.

Forced to take refuge in Lausanne in 1940 due to the Racial Laws, Luzzati was able to be in contact with the most lively and interesting artistic currents of the early twentieth century. Picasso, Paul Klee and the Russian Theater are just some of the artistic models of reference during the years of study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne, which are reflected a lot in the production of this period. It was in these years that his passion for theater also developed, and once he returned to Italy at the end of the war, he signed the first set design for Alessandro Fersen 's Lea Lebowit z in 1947.
Starting from the 1950s, he established himself as a set designer, collaborating with the most important national theaters such as La Fenice in Venice, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Stabile in Genoa. In his long career Luzzati has signed up to 400 sets for theatrical performances, for ballet and opera, using the most diverse techniques: collage, drawing, pastel, ink, pencil and marker.
In 1968 he began a long partnership with Tonino Conte and together with him and Aldo Trionfo he founded the Teatro della Tosse in Genoa, of which he will remain artistic director for over thirty years, producing many shows, including Nel Campo dei Miracoli or Il Sogno di Pinocchio , Ubu Award for scenography in 1995.
Luzzati's creative genius knows no boundaries, and skilfully ranges from the activity of set designer and costume designer to urban furnishings and for cruise ships, to ceramics (in particular the Pozzo della Garitta in Albissola, also frequented by other artists such as Lucio Fontana and Wilfredo Lam), in illustration and animation cinema, receiving two Oscar nominations for the films La gazza ladra in 1965 and Pulcinella in 1973.
The richness of his fantastic world, his immediate and highly expressive style have made him one of the most loved and admired artists of our time.
