The Durham University Oriental Museum houses a wide range of works of art and archaeological finds from the great cultures of North Africa and Asia. In total, there are more than 36,000 objects, ranging from prehistoric times to the present day.

The eras described here range from Ancient Egypt to modern China and it is the only museum in the north of England dedicated entirely to the art and archeology of the great cultures of North Africa and Asia. Durham University also has special archives and collections at the Palace Green Library and additional museum collections at our Museum of Archeology, Durham Castle and the Western Art Collection.
