The Porzellamsammlung is a Dresden museum dedicated to ceramics. It is located in the Zwinger palace, a baroque palace by the architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann built between 1709-1710 and 1732-1733, where there are also two other museums (the Pinacoteca dei ancient masters and the collection of sculptures up to 1800 and the Museum of Mathematics and Physics Instruments). The museum is part of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the state collection of the Land of Saxony.
The collection consists of over 20,000 porcelain objects. Among the pieces of particular prestige are the blue and white porcelain of the Ming and Qing dynasties, in particular the "Dragoon vases" acquired by King Frederick William I of Prussia. There are also colorful objects from the families of green and pink pottery, white Dehua, Japanese Arita and pottery made specifically for export. Another important collection is that of Saxon porcelain, in particular Meissen porcelain. There are also numerous sculptures made of pure white or painted porcelain, including miniatures of musician actors and court jesters (Schmiedel and Fröhlich), as well as a table set made for the royal family.
