The Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschicht is a Dortmund museum dedicated to the art and history of the city. The collections of paintings, sculptures, furniture and crafts offer an insight into the cultural history of the city of Dortmund. The collection covers a time span ranging from prehistoric times to objects from the 20th century.
The permanent collection of 19th-century paintings includes works by Caspar David Friedrich, Max Slevogt, Lovis Corinth and Anton von Werner. In addition, the museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, some of which are of international importance, such as those dedicated to Kirchner, Friedrich Karl Waechter, Cézanne, Manet and Frank Lloyd Wright and The Living City (2000).
In 2008, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its foundation, the Museum received part of a Renaissance altarpiece by Jan Baegert.
