The Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst (Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art - BLMK) is a modern and contemporary art museum in Cottbus, in the State of Brandenburg. It is located in a former power plant building east of the old town. Together with the second location, in Frankfurt on the Oder, it houses the world's most comprehensive museum collection of GDR art and subsequent artistic traditions of the area. The collection initially focused on the fields of painting, sculpture and graphics. Subsequently, the photography and graphics sections were added. Today the collection boasts more than 42,000 works and ranges from Dresden Expressionism to the present day, including an extensive graphic collection with autographed drawings, prints and artist books.
More than ten temporary exhibitions are presented each year in the two museums. The topics covered range from modern art to contemporary art. In addition to works of art from the region, the museum also exhibits works by internationally renowned artists.
