The Municipal Art Gallery of Cesena is an ancient, modern and contemporary art gallery, which exhibits paintings on wood, on canvas and sculptures from the late Middle Ages to the contemporary age, mainly from Emilia-Romagna. Most of the paintings exhibited in the rooms of the Pinacoteca were acquired following the Napoleonic and post-unification suppressions, others have also been added, mostly coming from the Congregation of Charity and from private city collections. Between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the municipal collection was formed, but only recently, after various rearrangements after 1883, the current exhibition arrangement was found in the former monastery of San Biagio in 1984. The works on display date back to a span of time between the fifteenth century and the contemporary age and offer an overview of local production enriched by some important presences of national importance. You can admire works by numerous local artists such as Sacco, Serra, Savolini, Razzani, Milani, Malmerendi, Barbieri, Severi by famous artists such as Guercino, Piazzetta, Sughi, Guttuso.
