In Ceresole d’Alba, twinned with Saint Paul de Vence, the first nucleus of the MIDA International Museum of Women Artists has been opened. Inaugurated on April 21, 2023, the museum houses a selection of works by some of the most interesting Italian and foreign female artists. The aim of MIDA is to highlight female creativity, which is not always valued.

Thanks to the generous collaboration of the artists themselves and private collectors, it was possible to assemble a collection of important works ranging from Berthe Morisot to Susanne Valadon, from Sonia Delaunay to Marina Abramovic, as well as Jenny Holzer, Carmen Gloria Morales, Beverly Pepper, Rabarama, the Chinese artists Zhang Hongmei, Xiao Lu, the Indian Ruchica Wason Sing, and many others. Inside the museum, there is also a tribute to Frida Kahlo through images by great female photographers who shared her tumultuous life.

The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, installations, videos, photographs, etchings, and graphic works that narrate the complexity and richness of the female creative world.

Housed in the former Church of Madonna dei Prati, MIDA also involves the city center, with installations and sculptures that will be cyclically placed in specially selected locations. In order to make known as many artists as possible beyond the exhibited works, some tiles or indicative elements will be placed every semester, bearing the names and references of artists not exhibited in the museum space but deserving to be known.
