MIDA - International Museum of Women Artists

The first nucleus of the MIDA "International Museum of Women Artists" has opened in Ceresole d'Alba, a city twinned with Saint Paul de Vence. Inaugurated on April 21, 2023, the museum houses a selection of works by some of the most interesting Italian and foreign artists. The intent of MIDA is to bring to light female creativity, which is not always appreciated.

Thanks to the generous collaboration of the artists themselves and private collectors it was possible to assemble a set of important works ranging from Berthe Morisot to Susanne Valadon, from Sonia Delaunay to Marina Abramovic, as well as Jenny Holzer, Carmen Gloria Morales, Beverly Pepper, Rabarama, the Chinese Zhang Hongmei, Xiao Lu, the Indian Ruchica Wason Sing and many others. Inside the museum there is also a tribute to Frida Kahlo through the images of great women photographers who shared her tormented life with her.

On display, there are paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, installations, videos, photographs, etchings and graphic works that tell the complexity and richness of the female creative world.

Housed inside the former Church of the Madonna dei Prati, Mida also involves the city center, with installations and sculptures that will be placed cyclically in specially selected places. In order to raise awareness of the greatest number of artists possible, beyond the works on display, every six months some tiles, or indicative elements, will be placed, bearing the names and references of artists not exhibited in the museum space but who deserve to be known.
